1. Before you start
You need your Binance.US login with two-factor authentication turned on — Binance.US will not make a key without it — and, ideally, a laptop. The key is two long strings, the API key and the secret key, and the secret is shown once.
2. Make the key
Sign in at binance.us. Open the menu behind your email address in the top right and choose API Management.
Binance.US's home page with the menu behind the email address in the top right open, and API Management in it. Under Create New Exchange API Key, type a name you will recognise later — Dashing Crypto is fine — and choose Create. Binance.US asks for your two-factor code.
The API Management page, with a name typed under Create New Exchange API Key and the Create button beside it. The new key appears in the Exchange API List with its API Key and Secret Key. Copy each one whole, now — the secret key is not shown again once you leave this page. If it is already gone, delete this key and make another.
Below the keys, check the restrictions. A new key comes set the way the app needs it, so there is usually nothing to change:
- Enable Read — ticked. It is the only box the app needs.
- Enable Spot Trading and Enable Withdrawals — clear. The app will refuse a key that has withdrawals.
- IP access restrictions — Unrestricted. Binance.US marks this as less secure, and for a key that could trade it would be. This key can only read, and a phone's address changes every time it moves between Wi-Fi and mobile data, so a key pinned to one address stops working the moment it does.
If any of these differ, choose Edit restrictions, set them, and save.
The new key in the Exchange API List: its API key and secret key, Enable Read ticked, trading and withdrawals clear, and IP access unrestricted.
3. Paste it into the app
In Dashing Crypto, open Accounts and choose Connect an exchange, then Binance.US. If you already have an account, the same choice is behind the + at the top right.
Accounts, before anything is connected: the third row is Connect an exchange. Connect an exchange: Binance.US is the second row. Paste the API key in the API key box and the secret key in the Secret key box, then tap Connect. The app checks the pair with Binance.US before it saves anything, so a key in the wrong box is caught here rather than later.
Connect Binance.US: the API key and secret key boxes, and the note that the key only reads. Both boxes filled, and Connect lit.
That is it. Your Binance.US balance appears in the same list as your wallet, and updates on its own.
4. If it does not connect
Binance.US gives the same answer for a mistyped key, a key restricted to an IP address, and a key missing a permission — so the app cannot tell you which it was. Check all three, in this order:
- Both strings whole, in the right boxes. Paste each again.
- IP access is Unrestricted. This is the usual one on a phone, and the only one you cannot see from the app.
- Enable Read is ticked. Edit the key's restrictions; you do not need a new key.
Still stuck? Support can help with a connection. Never send anyone the secret key — not us, not Binance.US's support, not anyone.
